QR Code Generator: Content in, code out

QR codes for links, WiFi, email, phone or SMS – completely local in the browser, with PNG and SVG download. Without registration, without saving.

QR library: qrcode generator (MIT, Kazuhiko Arase), integrated locally.

For links, always enter the full address with https://.

The password is in the code. Only share the code with people who are allowed to use the WiFi. After a password change, a new code is required.

The code opens the dialing app on the smartphone - the number is displayed before the call.

Create a QR code in three steps

1. Type and content

Select link, WiFi, email, telephone or SMS and fill in the fields. The preview updates immediately.

2. Check display

Set color, background and error correction. Dark on light works most reliably.

3. Download and test

Download as SVG for printing or PNG for web and social media. Then test with iPhone and Android.

Create a QR code for free – without registering

The generator is free and does not require an account. It runs entirely in your browser: enter content, load code as PNG or SVG, done. There is no trial period, no watermark and no limit on how many QR codes you create.

  • • Free: any number of codes, also for customer projects and commercial use.
  • • Without registration: No account, no email address, no price list behind the download.
  • • Without expiration date: Static codes remain valid as long as the target is achievable.
  • • Without watermark: PNG and SVG are ready to print.
  • • Without upload: Links, WiFi passwords and texts remain on your device.

Free here does not mean “limited trial version”, but rather: The code is calculated in the browser and does not have to be registered anywhere. You only need a dynamic provider if the goal changes later or you want to evaluate scans - then the durability of the code depends on its service.

Which QR code types does this generator support?

The content is stored directly in the code. Which type is useful for what:

Link or text

Website, landing page, menu, voucher or a quick hint. Always use the full URL with https:// for links.

WLAN-Zugang

Guests connect without typing a password. The code contains SSID and password - ideal for reception, holiday apartment or café.

Email

Opens the mail app with recipient, subject and optional text, convenient on business cards, flyers and invoices.

Telephone number

Opens the dial app with the number. The number remains visible before the call - no automatic call.

SMS

Opens the Messages app with number and pre-filled text. Useful for queries, sweepstakes or appointment confirmations.

There is a separate template for Google reviews: The Review QR code converts a review link directly into a ready-to-print A6 card for counter, invoice or vehicle – with space for company name and address.

There is a separate one for guest networks in restaurants, hotels and practices WLAN guest card: Enter network name and password, print A6 card for table or room - including explanation of WIFI format and security questions.

Static or dynamic – what do you need?

Static QR Code (this tool)
  • • Content is directly in the code
  • • Free, without account, without expiration date
  • • Keine Scan-Statistik, kein Tracking
  • • Change only possible with new code
Dynamic QR code
  • • Kurze Redirect-URL statt Inhalt
  • • Goal changeable later, scan numbers measurable
  • • Depending on the provider, usually charged
  • • Provider sees scans and can discontinue the service

For most local businesses, a static code is enough: business card, sign, flyer, or Wi-Fi guest access. Dynamic makes sense if the target changes frequently or you want to evaluate scans. Important in both cases: The linked page must remain permanently accessible.

Print QR code correctly: size, contrast, quiet zone

size

Rule of thumb: Scan distance ≈ 10 × edge length. For a distance of 30 cm, at least 3 cm. On business cards at least about 2 × 2 cm.

Quiet area

Leave at least four modules white all around. No text, no frame and no logo pressed into the quiet zone.

Contrast

Dark code on a light background. No bright pink on white and no inverted colors - some scanners fail because of this.

material

Matte surfaces are better than shiny ones. Mirror foils and displays - make the code larger and with more contrast.

Don't distort

Keep it square. If you stretch the code out, you will destroy the module geometry.

Testing before printing

Scan with iPhone and Android, from the intended distance and in real light. Only then print the edition.

QR code with logo and the most common errors

A logo in the middle is possible, but costs readable modules. If you need it: error correction H Choose, keep the logo small (maximum about one-fifth of the area), do not obscure the three corner markers and re-test the finished code. This tool does not use a logo – you can add it to an image program after export.

  • • Too small: The code is not recognized from the planned distance.
  • • Too little contrast: Bright colors or colored backgrounds blur the modules.
  • • Quiet zone missing: Text or graphics directly on the code irritate the scanner.
  • • Dead link: The code works, but the landing page is offline or incorrect.
  • • Shine and reflection: Slats, displays and foils reflect the camera image.
  • • Tested on desktop only: Always check with real smartphones and cameras.

Will my content remain private?

Yes. The QR library runs directly in your browser. Your entries – including a WiFi password – will not be transmitted to Websters and will not be saved. As with every page view, server logs are generated (IP address, time, user agent); these do not contain any QR content. The code itself is static: anyone who scans it can read the content. For WLAN codes this means: The password is contained in the code.

Questions about QR codes

Do QR codes expire?

Static QR codes like those in this generator do not expire. The content is stored directly in the pattern. The code works as long as the content exists - so a linked page must remain online. Only dynamic codes from providers can expire or be switched off.

Does Websters see my content?

No. The QR library runs locally in your browser. Your entries will not be transmitted to our server and will not be saved. This also applies to WiFi passwords. Only normal server logs are generated when the page is accessed, without QR content.

Which error correction should I choose?

M is the default and is sufficient for most codes. Q or H are useful if the code is printed in small print, is touched often, is dirty, or has a logo on it. Higher levels produce denser patterns and require more space.

How big does a QR code have to be?

The rule of thumb is: Scan distance divided by 10 gives the minimum size. For a distance of 30 cm, about 3 cm. At least 2 × 2 cm on business cards, correspondingly larger on posters. Test the code from a real distance before printing.

Can I create a QR code with a logo?

This tool does not use a logo. After exporting, you can add a small logo in the middle. Select error correction H beforehand, do not cover the three corner markers and keep the logo small. Test the finished code with multiple smartphones.

Why does my QR code not work?

The most common causes are too little contrast, a missing white quiet zone, a print size that is too small, reflections on glossy material or a dead link. Inverted colors and subsequently distorted graphics can also irritate scanners.

Are QR codes free?

Static QR codes are free and do not require a provider. This tool is free and doesn't save anything. Dynamic codes with changeable destination and scan statistics usually cost a fee and depend on the respective provider.

What file do I need for printing?

SVG is the best choice for printers: the vector format remains sharp at any size. 1024 pixel PNG is suitable for web, social media and simple documents. For very large prints or displays, size the code generously and test it beforehand.

Can I share WiFi access via QR code?

Yes. The code contains network name, encryption and password. Guests scan it and connect without typing the password. Note: Anyone who has the code can read the password. After changing your password you will need a new code.

Can I use QR codes commercially?

Yes. The library used is MIT licensed and may also be used commercially. You are responsible for the content: no illegal offers, no misleading links and, in the case of WiFi codes, careful use of the password.

Is the QR code generator really free?

Yes, completely. You can create as many QR codes as you want, download them as PNG or SVG and use them commercially. There is no test phase, no watermark and no hidden costs when downloading.

Do I need an account or email address?

No. The generator runs without registration. The QR codes are calculated directly in your browser, so your entries do not leave the device and nothing is saved for your use.
