Normal text needs ≥ 4.5 (AA) or ≥ 7.0 (AAA), large text ≥ 3.0. Below 4.5: adjust darker/lighter or bold font + increase size.
Questions about contrast & accessibility
The international guideline for accessible websites: Normal text needs a minimum contrast of 4.5:1, large text 3:1. AA is the standard required by law (in the EU the European Accessibility Act).
From 2025, the European Accessibility Act will gradually also apply to many private websites, especially shops and service providers. Contrasts are the most common and easily proven violation - so check now.
