SEO Check: How good is your website really?

Enter URL, have 11 SEO factors checked - with score and concrete tips. Takes seconds.

What the SEO Check checks – and what not

The check evaluates the technical basis of an individual page. It's a quick filter for the most common mistakes, not a full SEO audit and not a ranking guarantee. The 11 factors tested:

HTTPS

Encrypted connection and correct URL.

Title available

The page title is the most important heading in search results.

Title length

Too short or too long titles are cut off or appear arbitrarily.

Meta description

The preview under the title – it influences the click rate.

Exactly an H1

The main heading should clearly summarize the page.

Alt texts

Images need descriptive alternative texts for A11y and image search.

Canonical

Prevents duplicate content due to different URL variants.

OpenGraph

Ensures clean previews on WhatsApp, LinkedIn & Co.

Structured data

JSON-LD helps search engines and AI systems classify content.

Response time

A slow server costs crawl budget and users.

Page size

Excessive HTML delays rendering, especially mobile.

SEO analysis, SEO test or website analysis – what is the difference?

These terms are used almost synonymously in everyday life, but they do not mean the same thing. Briefly classified so that you know what this free tool really does and when a deeper SEO analysis is necessary:

SEO check / SEO test

Automatically checks a single page against fixed rules: title, H1, canonical, images, loading time. The result is a score with specific to-dos - that's exactly what this tool does for free and without registration.

SEO analysis

Answers why a page doesn't rank: search intent, competition, content gaps, internal linking and backlinks. This requires data sources such as Search Console and a complete crawl of the website.

Website-Analyse

The broader look beyond SEO: technology, content, speed, accessibility, tracking and conversion. It includes SEO analysis but evaluates the website as a whole.

SEO audit

The detailed, prioritized evaluation with action plan and sequence. This makes sense before a relaunch, if there are many pages, languages or locations and if rankings decline over months.

In short: The SEO test here is a quick technical introduction. An SEO analysis or website analysis needs real search queries, competitive data and user behavior - that's what it's for SEO audit with action plan.

What the check does not do

A good score is a start, but not proof of good rankings. The free check deliberately does not cover these topics:

  • • Backlinks and Domain Authority: Crucial for competitive terms, but not measurable from the outside in seconds.
  • • Keyword research and search intent: The check does not say whether your site answers the right question.
  • • Content Quality and E-E-A-T: Uniqueness, expertise and trust cannot be represented in 11 points.
  • • Indexing and technology in detail: robots.txt, redirects, canonical chains, hreflang and server errors need a crawl.
  • • Core Web Vitals from field data: The check measures the response time, not the real user experience from CrUX.
  • • Local visibility: Google business profile, reviews, NAP consistency and Maps rankings are left out.
  • • Conversion and tracking: A technically clean appearance is only of any use if inquiries are measurably received.

The 5 most common SEO mistakes

Missing or duplicate title

Each page needs a clear title with the main topic. When it comes to duplicate titles, Google often decides for itself - usually worse for you.

Meta description is missing

Google then invents a preview. A clear description with benefits and an impulse for action improves the click rate.

Multiple H1 or none at all

One H1 per page is enough. Further headings belong at the H2 level - this creates structure for users and search engines.

Images without alt text

Alt texts help screen readers and image searches. Describe what you see – not keyword lists.

Slow server or huge HTML

Large pages and slow responses cost crawl budget. Check hosting, caching and unnecessary scripts.

When a professional SEO audit makes sense

The free check is enough to find the basics. A full audit is worth it if you want to become visible in local competition, have lost rankings after a relaunch, are running paid ads on a weak landing page, or have to coordinate many pages, languages and locations. Then crawl data, search intent, internal linking, backlinks and the actual conversion count.

Questions about the SEO check

What exactly does the SEO check?

11 factors: HTTPS, title (existing + length), meta description, exactly one H1, alt texts, canonical, open graph, structured data, response time and page size - with score and tips per point.

Is the check really free?

Yes, completely free and without registration. For an in-depth analysis (keywords, competition, technology), our SEO audit is available as a fixed-price service.

Do you save my URL?

No. The check runs live and the checked URL is not stored in a database or shared.

Why do I have 100 points and still not rank?

The score only checks the technical basis of a site. Rankings also depend on search intent, content, internal linking, backlinks, competition and local signals. 100 points means “technically clean”, not “1st place”.

Does the SEO Check check backlinks?

No. The check analyzes a single URL and its HTML. Backlink profile, domain authority and competitive comparison require external data sources and their own audit.

What is a Good SEO Score?

From around 80 points onwards the technical basis is usually solid. The open points are more important than the number: a missing canonical or several H1s are more important than a description that is just a few characters too long.

Does the check check local SEO?

Only indirectly via structured data. Google business profile, Maps rankings, NAP consistency, reviews and local landing pages are not checked - a separate local SEO audit is required for this.

How often should I repeat the check?

After major changes, a relaunch or when rankings drop. Daily repetitions are of no use because the technical basis does not change every day.

What is the difference between SEO check, SEO analysis and website analysis?

An SEO check or SEO test automatically checks an individual page against fixed rules and provides a score. An SEO analysis also examines search intent, competition, content, internal linking and backlinks. A website analysis evaluates the website as a whole, including technology, accessibility, tracking and conversion. This tool is the free SEO test, not the full analysis.

Can I check my website for free without registering?

Yes. Simply enter your address and you will immediately receive your score and open points. There is no registration, no test phase and no limit: you can check your website as often as you like for free - for example after changes, before a relaunch or if rankings drop.
