BeBetter – Habit tracking with year grid and streak statistics
Initial situation

What was the problem

Many habit trackers are either pure to-do lists or overloaded dashboards. Daily progress is quickly lost and motivation is lost after a few weeks.

BeBetter should make it clear how small decisions add up over months - without gamification, which is more annoying than helpful.

Solution

What we have built

BeBetter combines a GitHub-style year grid with streaks, statistics and optional reminders. Habits are depicted as daily, visible points.

The application can be used as an installable PWA and is also available as an Android app. This keeps the entry point low without users having to miss out on push reminders.

The most important functions

Not every function makes sense for every project. These solve specific tasks.

  • Habit tracking with year grid and streak statistics
  • Push reminders and optional photo verification
  • Streak battles against friends
  • Can be installed as a PWA – no need for an app store to start
  • Android app for users who prefer a native installation

Why these decisions?

PWA first

A PWA is available quickly, cross-platform and without a store review. The Android app complements it where push and installation are more important.

Vue and Express

A lean, easy-to-maintain basis for frontend and API – suitable for a product that is being further developed quickly.

PostgreSQL with Prisma

Clear data models and comprehensible migrations instead of improvised data storage.

What became of it

Honestly classified: What the project shows - and what we consciously do not claim.

BeBetter is live and can be installed as a PWA. The Android app is additional access for users who prefer a native app.

The project is an in-house product. We therefore do not publish any fictitious user numbers or retention promises.

Transparency: We only publish facts that are demonstrable: no invented customer votes, no guaranteed rankings and no glossed metrics.

What you can take away from it

  • A good PWA is often the fastest way to an installable app - without two separate code bases from the start.
  • Visible progress motivates more than complex points systems.
  • Push reminders must be voluntary and can be switched off at any time, otherwise they become the reason for uninstallation.

Questions about this project

No. BeBetter is a Websters own product. We implemented the product idea, design, PWA, API and Android app ourselves.

Yes. We build PWAs for customer portals, bookings, internal tools and product ideas - including offline capability, push and installation when it makes sense.

A PWA can be used immediately via a link, is cross-platform and can be updated more quickly. A native app is worthwhile if deep device functions or store presence are imperative.
