Compare web design offer: the 7-point check

Three offers, three prices, zero insight? With these 7 check points you can identify the best offer – and dubious providers.

1. Scope of services in black and white

Does it say exactly how many pages, which functions, how many rounds of corrections? Vague wording (“modern website”) is a warning signal. Our tip: Request a list of achievements with checkmarks.

2. Fixed price instead of an hourly rate black box

A fixed price protects you from excessive hours. Hourly rates are only ok with a cost cap. We generally work with a fixed price.

3. SEO included?

Without SEO basics (title, descriptions, loading time, mobile optimization), the most beautiful website is invisible. Check whether SEO is on offer or costs extra.

4. Who owns what? (Property & Rights)

Domain, content, design rights and source code must belong to you. Be careful with “rent”: Some providers rent out the website on a monthly basis – if you cancel, everything is gone.

5. GDPR: Imprint, data protection, cookies

Austria obligation: imprint according to ECG, data protection declaration, cookie banner with opt-in, processor contract with the hoster.

6. Post-launch support

How long free support? What is the cost of maintenance (updates, backups)? At least 30 days of support and a clear maintenance offer should be included.

7. References & contact persons

Real projects to click on plus a dedicated contact person instead of a ticket hotline. Call a reference – 5 minutes worth it.

Warning signs of dubious providers
  • ✗ “Unbeatable cheap” well under 500€ for complete websites
  • ✗ No imprint on the provider’s own website
  • ✗ Vorauszahlung 100% vor Projektstart
  • ✗ No references or only stock photos as a “portfolio”
  • ✗ Domain runs on the provider instead of you
